About the Host

Oldies DJ Butch Thomas has been playing oldies and hosting dances since 1968. Butch attended Trenton State College (now The College of New Jersey) where he was the DJ on the college radio station WTSR FM.

He played  R&B music and was called "Broadway Butch". While at
Trenton State Butch brought groups like the fabulous Ebonys, The Last Poets and The Brothers of Love to a predominately caucasian campus.

Butch graduated from TSC in 1972 with a BA degree and then attended Morgan State University in Baltimore, MD.

He continued to DJ after becoming a teacher in South Jersey.

In 1989 Butch started to play oldies at Club Impulse in Philadelphia and it was there that Line Dancing came back into force.

In 1993 Butch started the 1st Friday dance at Degenhardt's in South Jersey and recently celebrated his 10th anniversary. In 1998 Butch Thomas started the Oldies Dance at The Stardust Ballroom in Pennsauken, NJ, which was owned by the late  Russ Patrick. The Stardust was in action the 3rd and 4th Saturday of every month and attracted significant crowds.

Butch has now moved on to host the Soul Line TV show .
